Attacks Across Iraq Kill At Least 60

Updated

Officials say a string of attacks across Iraq have killed at least 60 people and left more than 250 wounded.

In the bloodiest attack, 30 were killed when a suicide bomber destroyed a police station in Kut, 150 kilometers southeast of Baghdad.

The attacks, which appeared to target security forces, came a day after the U.S. military cut its strength to under 50,000.

Its spokesman, Major General Stephen Lanza, called the attacks "desperate attempts" to undermine faith in the Iraqi security forces.
