Ukraine's Constitutional Court has begun examining moves to restore presidential powers removed by the administration that came to power after that country's so-called Orange Revolution.

The court is reviewing an application by allies of President Viktor Yanukovych in parliament to overturn constitutional reforms made in 2004 that transferred powers from the president to parliament and the government.

The court has been asked to rule on whether those changes were in conformity with the constitution.

The court is expected to make its decision by the end of October.

Yanukovych defeated Orange Revolution heroes President Viktor Yushchenko and Yulia Tymoshenko in presidential elections in January and February.
