Ahead of key nuclear talks with major powers this weekend, Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad has said his country will not surrender its nuclear rights even "under the harshest pressure."
Ahmadinejad said on April 12 that the West should know that Iran will not retreat from its "undeniable" rights to peaceful nuclear energy.
The April 14 talks in Istanbul between Iran and the six powers -- Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia, and the United States -- aim at resolving the standoff over Tehran's disputed nuclear activities.
Iran has promised to put forward "new initiatives" during the talks, without providing any detail.
The meeting will be the first negotiations between the two sides in more than 14 months.
Previous meetings have ended in frustration on both sides.
The West suspects Iran is seeking to produce nuclear weapons, but Tehran denies the claim.
