Russian Soldier Dies After Being Shot At Military Base In Armenia

A 22-year-old Russian soldier has died after being shot at Russia’s military base in Armenia's northwestern city of Gyumri. The soldier, Roman Shaternikov, was transferred on March 20 from the military base’s Kamkhut training ground to a hospital in Gyumri. Armen Khachatrian, deputy director of the hospital, told RFE/RL that the Russian serviceman was dead on arrival. Military exercises are currently under way at the Kamkhut training ground.
