Armenia's Defense Ministry says that a military officer has been killed by a sniper on the border with Azerbaijan.
The ministry said the officer was shot dead on March 19 in the Tavush region in northeastern Armenia.
Last week, an Armenian army sergeant was killed by a sniper in the same area.
Yerevan and Baku are locked in a bitter dispute over the region of Nagorno-Karabakh, which Armenian separatists backed by Yerevan seized from Azerbaijan in a war in the 1990s that left some 30,000 people dead.
Diplomatic efforts to settle the conflict have brought no result, and shootings on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border have been common.
Azerbaijan said two of its soldiers were also killed earlier this month on the Nagorno-Karabakh front line.
