Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is in serious condition under heavy guard at a hospital in Boston.

Police pulled the 19-year-old Tsarnaev from a tarpaulin-covered boat in a backyard in nearby Watertown late on April 19.

His capture came at the end of a tense day that began with his 26-year-old brother, Tamerlan, dying in a gunbattle with police.

There was no immediate word on when Tsarnaev might be charged and what those charges would be.

He is said to be in a serious but stable condition and is unable currently to communicate.

The twin bombings on April 15 killed three people and wounded more than 180.

President Barack Obama said there are many unanswered questions about the bombing, including whether the Tsarnaev brothers -- ethnic Chechens -- had help from others.
