Mokhammad Abdurakhmanov, an outspoken critic of the authoritarian leader of Russia's North Caucasus region of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said on November 2 that he has obtained political asylum in Germany after two unsuccessful attempts. Abdurakhmanov survived an assassination attempt in 2020. His attacker from Chechnya, Valid Dadakayev, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in Munich earlier this year. Abdurakhmanov’s brother, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, is also a well-known self-exiled opposition blogger, He survived an assassination attempt in a European city in 2020.
