The former chairman of the Chechen parliament, Magomed Daudov, a close associate of Ramzan Kadyrov, has been appointed head of Chechnya's government. Kadyrov said on Telegram on May 24 that he introduced Daudov as the new prime minister during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. He said that "taking into account the experience and professionalism" of Daudov, "the deputies will support his candidacy." Kadyrov added that Daudov would take the post according to the "procedure provided for by law" but at the same time congratulated him on his new position.
