Netanyahu said Israel supports the Egyptian protests but would not want to see another Iran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today voiced support for pro-democracy protesters in Egypt but urged the international community to ensure that any new regime respects Israel's peace treaty.

Netanyahu's statement also said that if a radical regime were to replace President Hosni Mubarak "as occurred in Iran and elsewhere,” the result could be a “blow to peace and democracy."

On January 31, Netanyahu expressed concern that Egypt could go the way of Iran, whose government -- once friendly to Israel -- was overthrown in an Islamist revolution in 1979.
