The Russian Prosecutor-General's Office on August 5 recognized Germany's Konrad Adenauer Foundation as an "undesirable organization." The office said in a statement that the foundation, which says it is dedicated to the promotion of liberal democracy and a social market economy, "distributes materials discrediting the Russian Federation's leadership and its domestic and foreign policies." The "undesirable organization" law, adopted in 2015, targets NGOs and media outlets that receive funding from foreign sources.
