An Easter tweet from Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, which can be roughly translated as "Christ has risen! On this holiday I want to assure everyone that, if we are united, we will be together; the darkness will disappear and light will prevail. And Ukraine will rise."

Good morning. We'll start today's live blog with some disturbing news from Slovyansk, as reported by RFE/RL's news desk:
A gun battle near the eastern Ukrainian city of Slovyansk has reportedly left at least four people dead.

Russian state television reported on April 20 that gunmen attacked a pro-Russian checkpoint just outside of Slovyansk.

A correspondent for the Rossia 24 news station said both pro-Russian separatists and gunmen were killed in the incident.

Slovyansk -- which is about 100 kilometers north of Donetsk, the regional capital -- is largely controlled by pro-Russian separatists who first took over a police headquarters and later the city hall.

Separatists also captured some Ukrainian military vehicles from the nearby city of Krematorsk that are being kept in Slovyansk.
