Georgia's Central Election Commission says early results from Monday's parliamentary election indicate opponents of President Mikheil Saakashvili are leading.
The CEC said that with ballots from more than 20 percent of polling stations counted, the opposition Georgian Dream coalition led by billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili was leading in the vote for party lists.
The CEC said Georgian Dream had 54 percent of the vote, while the ruling United National Movement received 41 percent.
Seventy seven of the 150 members of parliament are being elected based on party lists. The remaining 73 members are being elected directly in voting districts.

"So far the votes are still being counted, and we will need a few more hours to get a full picture. But based on exit polls we can already say the majority in the proportional party vote goes to the opposition, to the Georgian Dream coalition. But as regards the majoritarian vote in constituencies, the majority went to the United National Movement."
