A Moscow court has extended the house arrest of Russian anticorruption blogger and opposition figure Aleksei Navalny by six months.
Investigators had asked the judge at the April 24 hearing in a Moscow district court to send Navalny to pretrial detention.
Navalny and his brother, Oleg, are on trial on charges of defrauding two companies who were clients of a freight-transportation company the two men owned.
According to an April 22 post on Navalny's blog, however, one of those companies -- cosmetics giant Yves Rocher -- has written to prosecutors to say that it was not defrauded and had not incurred any damages.
Navalny, who was already under two months of house arrest in connection with a different case, says he has been denied access to the Internet in an effort by prosecutors to prevent him from publicizing the Yves Roche letter.
