State Media Say North Korean Leader Kim Jong Il Dead

North Korean state TV on December 19 announced the death of 69-year-old leader Kim Jong Il, who reportedly died of a heart attack during a train trip on December 17. He had led his isolated country since his father (Kim Il Sung) died in 1994, and North Korean media quickly anointed Kim Jong Il's son, Kim Jung Un, "the great successor."
