Obama Opening European Tour In Ireland

President Barack Obama has departed Washington and is flying to Ireland, the first stop on a four-nation European tour by the U.S. leader.

Obama's stay in Ireland is expected to include a visit to the tiny village of Moneygall, the birthplace of Obama's great-great-great grandfather.

The U.S. president is the son of a Kenyan father and an Irish-American mother. On May 24, Obama and his wife Michelle are scheduled to continue the tour in Britain, where they will be the guest of Queen Elizabeth at a formal state dinner.

Later this week, Obama is scheduled to attend the Group Of Eight summit in France, before concluding his trip in Poland, where he will meet with leaders from Eastern Europe.
