Deadly Blast Hits Pakistan's Peshawar

At least nine civilians have been killed and 10 others injured after an explosion ripped through a passenger coach in the country's northwest.

The bombing on April 13 hit the Mattani area of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, which borders Afghanistan.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but the Pakistani Taliban and other militant groups have targeted members of peace committees, schools, and music centers in the area in the past.

Earlier on April 13 in the tribal region of North Waziristan, militants reportedly blew up the election office of an independent candidate running in next month's general elections.

No one was reported hurt in that bombing.

A recent wave of terrorist attacks has fuelled concerns that violence will mar the May 11 vote.
