Russian officials have reportedly been instructed to delete all work correspondence from the messaging application Telegram after its founder, Pavel Durov, was arrested in France. Baza, a Telegram channel affiliated with Russia’s security apparatus, said on August 25 that Defense Ministry staff, prominent businessmen, and officers at several security agencies had also been ordered to wipe work-related messages from the application. Russian war bloggers say Telegram has become a key communication tool between military command units involved in the Ukraine war. Durov was arrested amid a preliminary inquest into Telegram's lack of moderation and cooperation with law enforcement regarding drug trafficking and other offenses.
