A military court in Moscow on September 26 sentenced Russian actor Aleksei Panin, who currently resides in the United States, to six years in prison in absentia on a charge of justifying terrorism. The charge stems from Panin expressing support on social media in October 2022 for an explosion that seriously damaged the Kerch bridge connecting Ukraine's Russian-occupied Crimea region with Russia's Taman Peninsula. In May, Panin was added to Russia's list of extremists and terrorists. Panin has openly criticized Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine launched in February 2022.
