Media watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has launched a package of Russian-language satellite news channels that it said would provide independent journalism for Russian speakers. The Svoboda (Liberty) Satellite Package contains nine radio and TV channels, with content largely produced by journalists forced to leave Russia after Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. It will be accessible to 4.5 million households in Russia and 800,000 in occupied Ukraine on Eutelsat's Hotbird satellite, RSF said in a March 5 statement. Channels include Current Time, the network run by RFE/RL in cooperation with VOA, Novaya gazeta Europe, Echo, and Moldova's TV8 channel, among others.
