Once called a "breath of fresh air in the Balkans" by Washington, Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik represented a moderate alternative to hard-line nationalists convicted for war crimes. Now, Western governments call him corrupt and a threat to regional stability. For decades, Dodik has called for secession and the destruction of federal institutions while issuing threats against key international figures, journalists, and the political opposition with virtual impunity. Now, it appears his bluff is being called.
