Russian authorities have arrested the fugitive suspected killer of journalist Anna Politkovskaya.
Lawyer Saidakhmet Arsamerzayev said the suspect, Rustam Makhmudov, was arrested on the night of May 30 in Chechnya.
Arsamerzayev said Makhmudov is expected to be transferred to Moscow.
Makhmudov is suspected of being the gunman who murdered Politkovskaya in 2006, and had eluded capture until now.
Those who ordered Politkovskaya's murder have never been found in an investigation that has been widely criticized abroad.
