Russia's Federal Narcotics Control Service has announced the seizure of more than 200 kilograms of heroin from Afghanistan in the Moscow region.
Agency chief Vasily Yurchenko said on August 23 that police received a tip that the heroin was coming to the Russian capital aboard a train from Tajikistan's capital, Dushanbe.
He said the seizure had helped dismantle a Tajik criminal group that was trafficking heroin into Russia.
Yurchenko said it was the largest single seizure of heroin in Russia in several years.
