A Moscow court on September 5 sent three officers of a notorious immigration center in Sakharovo, near Moscow, to pretrial detention for at least two months on corruption charges. Abdulgazip Mustapayev, Olga Adakina, and Rudik Teknedzhyan were charged with fraud. Investigators say the trio extorted money from migrants awaiting deportation, promising expedited trips to their homelands. The center has been known for its cruel treatment of migrant workers from Central Asian and the Caucasus.
