Officials say five people were killed when a plane carrying football fans crash-landed in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk.
The Emergencies Ministry said 12 people were injured in the incident.
Reports describe the plane, which was carrying 45 people, as either overshooting or skidding off the runway, overturning, and breaking into pieces.
The airport was reported covered in heavy fog at the time.
The Antonov AN-24 plane, operated by Yuzhne Avialinii (South Airlines), had taken off from Odesa.
Many of the passengers were said to have been football fans on their way to attending a February 13 Champions League match between Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk and the German club Borussia Dortmund.
A minute of silence was held in honor of those who died before the start of the match.
