More statues of Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin have been toppled in cities across Ukraine.

Reports on February 24 say at least eight Lenin monuments were either pulled down or dismantled in the central Poltava region.

In the city of Poltava, the regional capital, a Lenin monument was pulled down by a truck.

On February 23, pro-Russian protesters formed human chains to protect Lenin monuments in the eastern cities of Donetsk and Kharkiv.

On February 22, a Lenin statue in Crimea was pulled down and cut into pieces.

Dozens of Lenin monuments, seen by some Ukrainians as symbols of Soviet domination, have been toppled in Ukraine since antigovernment protests erupted three months ago.

One of the first in this latest string was pulled down during protests in Kyiv on December 8.
