Soldiers reported wounded in attack:

Kyiv says Russian-backed separatists have "cynically" violated a cease-fire in eastern Ukraine by firing an antitank missile.

The Ukrainian military said the October 7 attack wounded four soldiers.

The attack undermines earlier comments by President Petro Poroshenko, who said a "real truce" had begun in the country’s east, but warned that peace was still a long way off.

Good morning. We'll start the live blog today with this item from the Russian Interfax news agency that was issued last night. The claims don't seem to have been reported by other major agencies, so read into that what you will...

MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. The Ukrainian army has shelled from mortars the village of Oktyabrsky in the Kuibyshevsky District of the city of Donetsk, district administration head Ivan Prikhodko said Wednesday.
"At 20:32 the Ukrainian army opened mortar fire on the village of Oktyabrsky," the Donetsk News Agency quoted Prikhodko as saying. "Two direct hits were registered at 3 Kremlyovsky Avenue."
He said no one was injured and the fire was localized fast.
In line with an agreement reached at the Contact Group's talks in Minsk, complete cessation of fire was established at the disengagement line from September 1.
Ukrainian troops have been engaged in fierce fighting with local militias during Kiev's punitive operation, underway since mid-April 2014, against the breakaway territories - the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics constituting parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine.
Massive shelling of residential neighborhoods, including with the use of aviation, has killed thousands and led to a humanitarian disaster in the area.
