Volunteer soldier Oleksandr Taran was 58 when he tried to enlist to defend his country after Russia seized Crimea in 2014 -- but he was told by the Ukrainian military then that they had no need for his help. He is now 65 and the commander of a small volunteer unit. He has mastered a vintage grenade launcher and, despite previous combat injuries, says Russia's invasion means this is no time for a rest.
