Zelenskiy: 'Our Task' Is To Prevent Russia From 'Total Occupation Of The Donbas'
As residents of the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk flee from advancing Russian troops, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy says he remains focused on countering Russian movements in Ukraine's east, known as the Donbas. "Their key mission in the east of our country is the total occupation of the Donbas. Our task is not to allow that. [Russian leaders] will continue to promise it to their society and will continue to postpone it," Zelenskiy said at an August 27 news conference in Kyiv in response to a question by RFE/RL.
