Another Ex-Wagner Mercenary Recruited From Russian Prison Sentenced For Murder

A court in Russia's southwestern region of Volgograd on September 11 sentenced a former Wagner mercenary group fighter to eight years in prison for beating his wife to death. Sergei Neverov was serving a prison term he was handed in 2019 for robbery and a series of thefts when he was recruited by Wagner to fight in Ukraine in 2022. He was pardoned after he returned from the war in March 2023. The number of crimes in Russia committed by former Wagner recruits and other ex-military personnel has been on the rise since early 2023 as soldiers returned from duty.
