Whether the ruling Party of Moldovan Communists wins the parliamentary ballot largely depends on how the country's 630,000 pensioners vote. The elderly voted massively for the Communists in 2001 and then reelected them in 2005. But the value of pensions has since been eroded by inflation, and pensioners' discontent has assumed massive proportions.
