Constitution Anniversary Unmarked In Russia

(official site) 12 December 2005 -- Today is the 12th anniversary of the 1993 adoption of Russia's constitution.

In previous years the day was a public holiday, but this year, for the first time, that holiday has been canceled.

The current Russian constitution was adopted by a national referendum on 12 December 1993. The following year, President Boris Yeltsin declared 12 December a public holiday in Russia.
