Since pro-European protests erupted in Kyiv in late November, Ukrainian authorities have jailed dozens of demonstrators and sympathizers. Four civilians have been killed so far, and several are missing.
This list is compiled from media reports, information released by Euromaidan SOS, an online initiative gathering information on police brutality, and reporting by RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service. It may not be exhaustive and will be updated as warranted.
DEAD
Yuriy Verbytskyy, a 50-year-old seismologist and Euromaidan volunteer, was found dead in a forest near Kyiv on January 22. He was abducted from a Kyiv hospital along with opposition activist and journalist Ihor Lutsenko after sustaining an eye injury during a police clash. Lutsenko says both he and Verbytsky, whose hands and clothes bore traces of duct tape, were tortured all night. Police say Verbytskyy died of exposure.
Serhiy Nihoyan, 21, was shot dead on January 22 during a violent clash between riot police and protesters in Kyiv. An ethnic Armenian, Nihoyan was part of Euromaidan's security team. The authorities insist Nihoyan was killed by bullets that are not used by police forces.
Euromaidan activist Mikhail Zhyzneuski, who was in his late 20s, died of a gunshot wound to the heart on January 22 during police clashes. A native of Belarus, he was a member of the Ukrainian nationalist group UNA-UNSO.
Roman Senik, a protester from a town in the western Lviv region, died in a Kyiv hospital on January 22 after being wounded in the chest during clashes with riot police. Senik, 45, underwent several operations, including an arm amputation, before succumbing to his injuries.
MISSING
Dmytro Bulatov, 35, has been missing since January 22. A leader of Automaidan, a drivers' group created to support the pro-European protesters, Bulatov had received death threats prior to his disappearance. There is no record of him being arrested by police. [January 31: Bulatov turned up in a village near Kyiv, saying that he was kidnapped and tortured by unknown men who spoke with Russian accents.]
Inna Grygoryan, a young woman from the city of Lviv, was last seen on Independence Square on November 30 as riot police violently dispersed protesters. There is no record of her being arrested by police. A murder investigation has been opened.
Lyubomir Hurmak, 32, from the western city of Kolomia. His relatives have been unable to contact him since he set off to Kyiv more than a week ago.
Andriy Karbyshev, a Euromaidan volunteer from Ivano-Frankivsk, left Independence Square on January 25 after telling fellow volunteers that he would be back soon. He has not been seen since. His mobile phone is switched off.
Volodymyr Pryydun also disappeared after the November 30 police raid on Euromaidan. Police have no record of his arrest.
Anatoliy Shynkaruk, a native of Vinnytsia in his 50s, is the third person reported missing following the November 30 police raid on Euromaidan protesters.
JAILED
Rudolf Abramyan -- Detained along with protesters in Kyiv on January 23 and jaileded for two months. His wife says Abramian, a taxi driver, is not an activist and was simply driving passengers to the city center when he was detained.
Mykhaylo Alekseyev -- 34-year-old Euromaidan activist, jailed for two months. A court in Kyiv found him guilty of participating in mass riots and assaulting police.
Stepan Andriychuk -- 65, jailed for two months. Andriychuk, who is disabled, is believed to have accidently found himself at the scene of violent street fighting between protesters and riot police.
Viktor Davydyak -- Jailed for two months. The 20-year-old student was brought to court from a hospital, where he was being treated for injuries sustained during clashes between protesters and police.
Nestor Dydyk -- Automaidan activist in Kyiv. Jailed for two months.
Yukhym Dyshkant -- Jailed for two months on charges of taking part in mass riots. According to witnesses, the 25-year-old author and poet was assaulted and beaten up in central Kyiv as he returned home.
Andriy Dzyndzya -- Journalist and activist with Road Control. Jailed for two months for allegedly attempting to storm the president's office in Kyiv last month. According to a fellow activist, Dzyndzya was beaten up by police during his arrest.
Maryan Havryliv -- Freelance photographer from Lviv detained as he took pictures of clashes between protesters and riot police in Kyiv. Jailed for two months.
Omelyan Havryliv -- Automaidan activist in Kyiv. Jailed for two months.
Mykyta Horskyy -- Automaidan activist in Kyiv. Jailed for two months on charges of assaulting police.
Andriy Ivanyuk -- Student and activist. Jailed for one month, later changed to house arrest on appeal. Fellow protesters say Ivanyuk was beaten up by police.
Volodymyr Karahyaur -- Cameraman for the Internet television station Spilnobachenya. Jailed for two months on charges of organizing mass riots. His colleagues say Karahyaur was detained at a gas station in Kyiv while buying gasoline in canisters.
Yuriy Khrobust -- Student, sentenced to two months' house arrest at his university campus for allegedly participating in mass riots. Reportedly beaten by up police.
Ihor Kobzar -- Automaidan activist. Jailed for two months.

Vadym Kovalov -- Kyiv student sentenced to two months' home arrest in his student dormitory. His friends say he was severely beaten up by riot police.
Oleksandr Kravtsov -- Automaidan activist. Jailed for two months for allegedly damaging vehicles belonging to the Berkut riot police.
Anton Kudynov -- Journalist, jailed for one month on charges of participating in mass riots. He says he approached riot police with a white flag.
Andriy Lenets -- Automaidan activist. Jailed for two months. According to witnesses, Lenets, 41, lost several teeth and has difficulty walking after being beaten up by riot police.
