Thousands Urge More LGBT Rights In Serbia At Annual Pride Parade

Thousands of people joined the Pride parade in Belgrade on September 7, demanding legislation on same-sex unions and gender identity. Some mentioned persisting prejudice and stereotypes in Serbian society. The police cordoned off a group of demonstrators opposing the LGBT event. Among participants from abroad was a Russian woman who told RFE/RL: "You cannot imagine the same Pride...in Russia right now."
