Ukrainian Surgeons Save Over 1,000 Lives In Underground Hospital
RFE/RL has been given an exclusive tour of Ukraine's first underground field hospital. Surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical staff work 6 meters underground in steel bunkers equipped with ventilation systems, a water supply, and alternative power sources. Staff say they've already saved the lives of more than 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers and that the new facility ensures the safety of both medical personnel and patients.
