Pakistani officials and witnesses say at least 10 people have been killed and 30 injured in an explosion in a cold storage factory in the port city of Karachi that led to the collapse of the facility and damaged nearby buildings.
Officials said an overnight search for potential survivors stuck under the rubble continued into December 23.
City and district authorities told RFE/RL that initial information appeared to show the incident was caused by the explosion of a boiler in the factory located in the New Karachi area. They added that an investigation was under way.
Poor safety measures in factories have been blamed for several similar incidents that have occurred in Karachi over the past year.
