The mother of Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the suspected Boston bombers, says neither she nor her husband will go to the United States to attend Dzhokhar's first court appearance next month.
Talking to RFE/RL by phone from Daghestan on June 25, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva said she received phone calls warning her that her and her husband's presence in the United States would worsen Dzhokhar's situation.
Tsarnaeva declined to say who exactly called her.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his older brother, Tamerlan, are suspected of carrying out the twin bombings at the Boston Marathon on April 15 that killed three people and injured at least 260.
Tamerlan was killed during a shoot-out with police four days later.
Dzhokhar was wounded and later captured.
Tsarnaeva again stated that her "innocent sons were framed."
