Were 3 Teenage Refugees Left In A Bulgarian Forest To Die In The Middle Of Winter?
Last December, volunteer groups in Bulgaria assisting migrants reported receiving alerts about minors in distress. Three Egyptian boys -- two aged 15 and one 17 -- had crossed Bulgaria’s border with Turkey in the depths of winter, led by people smugglers. Somehow, they were left behind. Humanitarian groups claim Bulgarian authorities ignored emergency calls, leaving the boys to die. Police deny the allegations. RFE/RL has investigated the case.
