The Moldovan Foreign Ministry has summoned Russian Ambassador Oleg Vasnetsov over a statement by the Moscow-installed head of the Russian-controlled part of Ukraine's Kherson region, Volodymyr Saldo. Saldo said earlier on June 22 that Russian armed forces might attack a bridge that connects Romania and Moldova at the town of Giurgiulesti in response to a Ukrainian attack on a bridge that connects the Kherson region with Russian-occupied Crimea. Saldo did not explain the reasons for such a response. The Moldovan Foreign Ministry said such statements "are absolutely unacceptable."
