Police in southwestern Pakistan say they've killed four “terrorists” from a banned group during an overnight security operation.
Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Langov said two police from the Counterterrorism Department were injured during the operation late October 23 in the Dasht area of the province's Mastung District.
Langov said on October 24 that the operation was carried out after the authorities had received an "intelligence tip" about one of the slain suspects.
He said the authorities were offering a bounty of 2 million Pakistani rupees, or about $12,400, for that suspect in connection with previous terrorist attacks.
Resource-rich Balochistan borders Afghanistan and Iran. It has been plagued by sectarian violence, Islamist militant attacks, and a separatist insurgency that has led to thousands of casualties since 2004.
