Nemtsov Supporters Gather To Honor His Memory
In Moscow, people paid tribute to Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov – 40 days after he was gunned down near the Kremlin. Supporters had also aimed to hold a concert, but no venue could be found which was willing to host an event in honor of Nemtsov – a fierce critic of President Vladimir Putin. Instead, people laid flowers and lit candles at the site of his killing, where an impromptu shrine has been frequently vandalized. In Russian Orthodox tradition, friends and relatives honor the dead 40 days after their passing. (RFE/RL's Russian Service)
