Ukraine has signed a memorandum on deepening cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Commission, a regulatory body of the Eurasian Customs Union.
The document was signed in Minsk on May 31 by Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov and the head of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Viktor Khristenko.
Azarov says the memorandum will open the way for Ukraine to attend meetings of the customs union's member-states as an observer.
Also in Minsk, Khristenko said that a road map on Kyrgyzstan's accession to the customs union should be created by the end of 2014.
The customs union was launched in 2011 and now consists of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
Russian officials say the eventual goal is to create a Eurasian economic union modeled after the European Union by 2015.
