More than a dozen wounded Russian contract soldiers who had fought in Ukraine fled a military unit near the city of Novosibirsk in southern Siberia when they were told they were being sent back to the battlefield despite their injuries, the Telegram channel Baza reported. The channel has ties to Russia's security services. The soldiers had signed contracts to fight in Ukraine in exchange for the termination of criminal prosecution for various offenses.
