After Coma, Wounded Ukrainian Cameraman Fights To Get Back To Work
Cameraman Ivan Lyubish-Kirdey was in a coma for a moth after his hotel in Kramatorsk was hit by a Russian missile, breathing only with the help of a respirator. But now he can't wait to pick up his gear and get back to the front. Journalists from RFE/RL's Current Time celebrated their former colleague's 41st birthday at the hospital with him, amid the accordion music he loves. Lyubish-Kirdey, now a video journalist for Reuters, can finally walk again -- and even dance a bit. But his road to full recovery remains long.
